love this new series on hallmark! its set in 1950s America, during the revolution. one of the main stars of the show is the American Bandstand section, where 50s 'artists and groups' perform to a live audience. fefe dobson as tina turner. love her performance! its so energetic and lots of people really think she personified tina realistically. very over the top; but that is why we love tina in the first place; always over the top!

Paris Hilton as barbara eden. have not seen the episode yet. but looking forward to it!

and michelle branch as leslie gore. she sang You Don't Own Me, one of Leslie's legendary and iconic songs. i love michelle's rendition of the song. really powerful.

among the current stars thrown back through time are Stacie Orrico, Usher, Hillary Duff (as the Shangri Las), Tyra Banks, Jennifer Love Hewitt (as Nancy Sinatra), Alicia Keys, Brandy (as Gladys Knight) just to name a few... love the series!

if you enjoy retro old school hits and the beautiful sets of the 50s, you'll love this series. just makes you wanna get up and dance along with the kids on TV land! (ps i did just that...)

A whole new world...

i had the M9 tutorial last night and it ended like at around 9.30pm. so while i was walking from the train station back to my flat, i happened to look up into the night sky. it was such a beautiful sight. i can actually see lots of twinkly stars and they are mighty bright stars!

usually, if one lives in a built up and suburban environment (is it the correct word?) one usually cannot see much stars in the night sky due to light pollution.

Q1. What is light Pollution?

well, light pollution happens when excessive light from the surroundings (lamp posts, corridor lightings et cetera) escapes into the sky. if you look at the area from a distance, you can see the light rays radiating away into the sky...

This is a shot of the Victoria Theatre and the Parliament Buildings at night. Obviously it is night time, but what is the colour of the sky? isn't it suppossed to be black? or dark greay? That glowy thingy is.... LIGHT POLLUTION!

Soooo, back to my story, i stopped in my tracks and enjoyed the night time view. it was totally gorgeous! and that was when i saw Orion's Belt and the Big Dipper!!! it was so cool! Orion's Belt looked just like this...

can you see the 3 stars all aligned together! yeah it looked just like that, with 2 stars on each side of the formation; forming Orion's arms and legs. but it looked way bigger than the one in this picture.

So fellow Singaporeans, try looking up into the sky and see what you can see!

New Job!!!

woo hoo!!! i got a new job!!! this time, its with Ernst & Young hehehe!!! as an Offshore Rig Asset Manager! (dunno why, but currently my job choices all are linked to the oil and gas sector)

i'll start work on monday!!! toodly doo!

My SIA Interview

after that bloody movie, i asked sheikh if he could accompany me to the SIA interview at Sheraton Towers. he said ok... so i gave him an application form for him (we're applying actually just for the sake of applying) so...

the next day ( THAT saturday ) i met up with sheikh at Sheraton Towers at 1pm AND MY GOD! it was like Louis Vuitton was having a 99% off sale!!! the registration was a long and snaking queue and it was packed full of beautiful people in beautiful clothes and with beautiful accessories (handbags or boyfriends, likewise) its very much like an American Idol audition!

after the first interview, guess who managed to go through to the next round of interviews? SHEIKH!!! THE PERSON WHO I CORDIALLY INVITED TO ACCOMPANY ME!!! and during the next interview, do you know what he said???

"Oh i actually attended this interview because i am suppossed to accompany my friend along as well. so, actually i do not really want this interview..."

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

there goes my dreams of getting a free upgrade to first class!!! there goes my cheap designer bags!!! there goes my INVESTMENTS!!! (sheikh)

Movie Night

last friday, i watched Eden Lake with sheikh... let me tell you something about this piece of crap called 'a movie'...

Eden lake is a gore fest from the start to the end. in my opinion, it was a lowly 3rd grade violence flick that used so much blood and gore on a group of ang moh "papans" with poor and stiff acting.

come on, if you want a good violent and bloody flick, please ATTN to Kill Bill and Kill Bill II. and, oh my god, i think Battle Royale was so much more better lah!!! for those of you who do not know what Battle Royale was, try searching it on YouTube; its a really gory japanese flick WITH an added bonus; schoolgirls in sailor uniforms, fighting it out, Al Gore!

Next time, let's just watch Ponyo ok?

today is my last day at oil and gas networks... sigh... bye bye days as an oil trader!!!

alas, alas... Rachel did not manage to pull through the SIA interview. she got stumped on one question.

What is Singapore Airlines doing to tide over this recession?

even i do know the answer lor! but after i asked Daniel abtout this, he said

SIA decreases the number of flights to destinations that are bot very lucrative and in whole decrease the number of daily flights internationally.

But, just too bad lah... and i am going for their interview this Saturday! woohoo! it'll be at Sheraton Towers from 9am till 3pm! wish me luck!!!

Here We Go Again Episode 2

in the afternoon just now i went out with rachel. she asked me about her SIA interview tomorrow morning and what are the most proable questions they will ask on the day itself. wanna know some of the questions?

1. Why do you wish to join Singapore Airlines?

this is one of the trickiest questions. a lot of the unsuspecting victims will answer, "because i love travelling and flying." then the interviewer will smile, AND FUCK YOU UPSIDE DOWN, INSIDE OUT!!!

true! no joke! want the model answer? heh... you think i'll just give it out? haha no way man!! but just a hint; the answer involves a lot of sucking up to the company.

sigh, have to follow rachel to the interview area tomorrow morning... meet her at Tanah Merah MRT station at 9 am... boohoo!!!

i also went out with tan kai xin later in the evening. oh my god, she still looked the same as ever! there is just no change in her at all!!! still the same jovial, rotund and chatty girl i always knew... we explored the national library together and had some munchies later at a cafe there... then we left for home together. thank goodness she stays an estate apart, so it was actually rather convenient. we had loads of fun...

can't wait for her birthday bash at The Central next Friday!

so sorry for not blogging regularly!!! i've bee rather busy lately with work and sleep! oh and shopping!

CAN YOU BELIEVE G2000 IS HAVING MEGA SALE!!! i bought 3 shirts for $20 each (usual price was $30 each) and a pinky stripey shirt with french cuffs for only $30 (usual damage is $75)! i was having a field day yesterday!

then there was the John Little Mega Expo Sale!!! long sleeved shirts by Thomas Pink and Alain Delon for only $10 each!!! G2000 shirts for only $20 each!!! i went crazy there. at night, i had a mnic nightmare; i have millions of shirts and i still think i have nothing to wear! i immediately woke up with cold sweat trickling down my wallet! hahaha!

Happy New Year!

Its already 2009!!!

2008 has been a really eventful and fun year for me... it was also the year i completed (as in ROD) from the army and get on with my life as an adult. it was also the freaking year i turned 21.

we had quite a number of loses (2LT Clifton and the lawyer in Mumbai, the greedy US economists) and even lesser gains ( dunno wat they are anyways, but there SHD be some gains, if only i could remember)

anyways, yeah... may 2009 be bountiful and prosperous to all readers!
