Oh about the black pillow thingy, i got it from Citibank. they came by the office yesterday to promote CitiGold (their privileage banking arm) and their new account, the Step Up Account.
If you don't know, their Step Up Account offers the highest interest for a Savings Account in Singapore. how it works? when you open a Step Up account with Citibank, they will start with an interest of 0.30% compounding. Starting from the lowest point of that month, increase your deposit by a dollar and Citibank will step up your interest by 0.05%. The interest will keep increasing, together with your savings. The maximum interest you can earn is 0.75% compounding per annum (honestly, this IS the highest, so far!)
Its really sad how low our interest rates have gone. 10 years ago, banks were paying like 2.25% for savings accounts and 5% for Fixed Deposits. Now, even Fixed Deposits are earning like 0.5% interest. sigh, Bank interest rates are lower than inflation. how's that for a great way to live?
